I'm sure I would have enjoyed this series much more had I read it much younger. Now it just feels repetitive, like a subpar TV show that goes on for too long. But l do probably keep reading it because of the sunk costs fallacy. I'm more than halfway through the books currently out and it hasn't taken too long. Also, even though it is not a stupendous story, it is not the trashy young adult fiction that is currently so trendy, so that's a plus.

4.5 stars. It's a great book and this series just keeps getting better, but I'm so ready for answers! There are some answers in this book, but more questions to go along with them. I loved seeing Toria and Jesse's perspectives and hope that continues into the rest of the series. All together, it's an awesome series that I can't wait to finish! Intriguing mystery, action, and creepiness with just the right amount of humor and everything else needed to make a good book. Also! The author apparently is in love with cliffhangers, sooo its a good thing I have the next book...

This third book was awesome and my first time reading it. I don't know why it took me so long to read this it was so awesome. It was better than the first two.
There was more shocking moments and this one was definitely harder to put down because I just wanted to know what was going to happen and what else could go wrong for this family. What other things do the Kings have to do just to stay alive and do what they need to while worrying about a guy that wants the house for some reason.
I liked how you see the family grow closer while they do the things that they need to do besides doing the normal things.
There were some funny moments that happen with some of the new characters from the second book that will have their place throughout the latter books. What they do to the police by scaring them was hilarious but I kinda felt bad for them mainly because they were not liking the house to begin with and then being scared away was just pain funny. Not many people would have stayed as long as they did because of what rumors of that house has to the people of Pinedale.
I never expected the things that happened to the family that did happen. I was rooting for the family and those that came to help them out. Things happened to this family was not very good and they fought for what they could keep the house long enough to accomplish what they need to. Bad things kept happening to this family so it was nice to see them have at least one thing good happen to them.
Xander did get on my nerves a little bit because of his attitude towards everyone and everything. If things did not go his way he would get angry about it and be kinda rude to everyone. It gets a little better by the end of this book but how he treats everyone was very annoying to me.
This book was not what I expected but it was very good and very faced paced.

The third book in the Dreamhouse Kings series. After their father is taken away by the police, Xander, David, and their younger sister are left alone in their creepy house. They still have to find their mother, who has been kidnapped, and taken to another time. They also need to avoid Taksidian who wants their home, the evil monsters who emerge from the door, and what's up with the elderly man who has just appeared and offered to help them? Fans of the series will enjoy this installment.
