The poem had some beautiful lines and images but overall I did not like the poem as it did not evoke the emotional I expected and hoped for. Moreover, I found the reflections on science and religion tiresome and conservative.

This is still one of the best poems I've ever read. My favorite part is number 6: "One writes, that 'Other friends remain'".

Did not read the whole poem, but substantial parts of it, including one of the essays.

I came across this via AS Byatt and because I had read a collection of him earlier. I stumbled upon this edition on my last day in Dublin and re read it. It hurt me in the best way possible. Sad, but amazingly lovely.
