The book itself is a fun middle grades read but 300+ pages of avoiding the word “autistic” (or Asperger’s Syndrome) to describe the main character was more stigmatizing than inclusive. If teaching/reading with children or students, PLEASE include other information about Autistic people and self-advocates, since Ted’s neurodivergent experiences are such an important part of the book.
Autistic Self-Advocacy Network, #ActuallyAutistic, and #OwnVoices are great starting places.

Moderate: Kidnapping

I honestly think I need to give up reading adult books and just read middle grade because the vibes are always immaculate. I remember loving this book as a kid and this time was the same. I just think it's great ahh (I don't have experience with autism so I can't comment on how good the rep is however). Genuinely just a good time, a mystery, very full and interesting characters. I felt like each character was really their own person and even though many didn't get loads of description, I still felt like I understood each of their motivations etc.
Minor: Child death, Death, Suicide, and Trafficking
These aren't actually in the book just mentioned very briefly as possibilities
