I found 'A River Enchanted' to be beautifully enchanting. I really enjoyed discovering all the ways the various characters were connected to each other. The romances are slow and sweet and have some of the best declarations of love I have come across. The world is richly described and seeping with magic.

This novel has many of the tropes I love: enemies-to-lovers, slow burn, lots of longing, gorgeous descriptions of food and clothing; additionally, the setting is lush and beautiful, with a rich lore. The plot is interesting and hints at mystery, and there are several love-based subplots. I should have loved this book. But I didn't.

It's entertaining and is, in parts, beautifully written. However, it's at best a snack, and not a very filling one. It takes some of the tropes I love and over-uses them until it made my eyes roll every time they popped up in the text--how many times can Jack rake back his hair with one hand? There are so many aching chests that this story needed a cardiologist more than it needed a bard. Every emotion is set at ten, every moment is The Most Dramatic Moment, which reduces every truly heightened emotion and moment to zero. If everything is in stereo, nothing is in stereo.

Yet the world-building is lovely and well-done. I wish it had been focused on more and there had been less romantic navel-gazing and reminiscing performed by secondary characters. The development of the main characters feels abrupt; it's handled better with the supporting characters Torin and Sidra. There is one mildly spicy scene that is well done but feels poorly placed in the narrative.

A beautiful premise that feels shallow. I won't read further into the series as it didn't enchant me.

It’s a good beginner fantasy read. I liked some of the character development and I’ll be interested to see what they do in the next book.

This book was really fun. i enjoyed how the mystery unfolded for the characters. it sat right in the fun spot of being able to figure things out just ahead of the characters. i found the characters to be fun to read. each pov characters felt well developed and unique. the side characters did as well. i was gripped the whole time waiting to see what would happen next. can’t wait to read the next book. it’s been moved to the front of my tbr

I really enjoyed this book & had a fun time buddy reading it with a friend! I was not sure what to expect going in, but I was quickly was sucked into the story.

In A River Enchanted, one of the main characters, Jack has been summoned home to Cadence from the main land to help solve a mystery of why the young girls on the island keep disappearing. He quickly teams up with his old rival Adaira to use his gift of singing and harp playing to try and convince the islands spirits to help the solve the mystery.

On Cadence, however, nothing is as it seems. Feuds between clans escalate, a desire of peace lies in a delicate balance, and the spirits may grant magic and give answers, but at what cost?

This was book 1 in a duology and I am so excited to start book 2 to see what happens next in both Jack and Adaira's stories.

I really enjoyed the authors writing style and the world she has created. I also enjoyed the multiple POV's of the characters so you got to learn more about everyone on the island and how everyone has a different idea about the past & future of Cadence. I will say the book starts off to a bit of a slow start but quickly picks up the pace.
