This was one of those graphic novels that I might have never reached for if I hadn't just seen it at my local library and grabbed it on a whim, but WOW, I'm so glad that I did! I want to read more from this author right away because I enjoyed this so much. The characters, art, and story were all absolutely captivating and so endearing. I loved the idea of these sentient sea creatures figuring out how to live on land via an old diving suit, and I was on the edge of my seat worried for them and Sophia. Highly recommending this one!

Thank you to Graphix Publishers and Edelweiss for early access to this title.

This was super fun! I have to admit I'm a huge Dan Santat fan - I love his illustrations in pretty much everything I've read of his. This story is very creative and also imparts a good message about sea conservation and caring for our fellow creatures. I think kids would get a lot of enjoyment out of this, while also learning some valuable lessons. Highly Recommended!

As library's are preparing for the Summer Reading theme "Oceans of Possibilities," I think this graphic novel is going to either rise to the top of request lists....or be one that needs to get on display.

While it is a book that has Santat's humor, and an array of fun ocean creatures, it is also a book about coping with loss. Of leaving a legacy and what that means. Of protecting those who need protecting. Deeper topics than you might anticipate in a graphic novel.

It's a very easy read. The text on each page is minimal to average. Yet I think it will be enjoyed by many. There are other graphic novels I personally have liked better, I won't hesitate to recommend this one.
