A really enjoyable read! I'm a great fan of young adult dystopian novels, and [b:Red Queen|22328546|Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)|Victoria Aveyard|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1449778912s/22328546.jpg|25037051] is no exception. Unfortunately, that means comparisons must be made. I think Red Queen stands fairly well as its own book, but it does use many of the common tropes of today's dystopian novels. I don't think it's as strong as Hunger Games, but it is better than Divergent.

The system of magic is novel. The main character is empathetic and strong. There is romance, but not too much. I'm intrigued by the world Victoria Aveyard has built and I look forward to visiting it again in the next installment.

its a good book
i loveee Cal
it's interesting plot
only reason why it's not rated more is because i wasn't obsessed with the story, it took me a while to read it
i would love to see more in depth characters, for them to be more complex.
