This is one of those books where, objectively, I could nitpick a lot of things. But I loved the story (even if parts of it absolutely wrecked me), so I won’t.

The depiction of adolescent crushes and heartbreak felt so real, and I was fully invested in Annabelle and Robert’s journey back to each other.

Plus, Annabelle thinking that Robert did not care for her, but meanwhile:

“I am not leaving London without you.” He sounded like a beast.

So be it. She had little notion of his true nature, but she must learn swiftly.

My inner teenager sighed so prettily at that.

Annabelle has been in love with Robert since she was a child but when he is seriously injured while saving her life he banishes her from his sight.  She spends years trying to forget him but at the same time always knowing what he's up to.  Robert grandfather forces him back to life by giving him a job and eventually insists on him marrying before he dies.  Robert goes to London and of course is only attracted to Annabelle...
Finally got around to finishing this series and honestly I could have done without this one(maybe because Annabelle was never a big part of the original series, not that I remember anyways), though it was nice seeing the other sisters briefly again.

I have no idea why I stopped reading this, but I remember being disgusted and not being able to pick it back up. This was months ago.

I also don't know how far in I got. I'm 15% through "volume 1" which includes this novella and the first 3 books.

Robert was giving red flags the whole time, it made it very difficult to root for them as a couple
