I almost abandoned this mystery/thriller about 1/3 through but decided to persist (I really shouldn't have). I found the writing style to be a bit patronising and very corny. I liked that the author had done a lot of research but the story felt mechanical and lacking heart.

I'm not normally one to pick up a crime novel, but this was enjoyable for me.

The pacing was great, the plot was engaging, and the action was well done. The characters felt a little stock to me, which was why I bumped it down to 4 stars, but other than that, it was good for me.

If you're into crime novels, this will be right up your alley. If you're not into crime novels, this would be a nice intro.

This book has an interesting plot but the writing is pretty poor.
