I loved this book so much when I first read it. Revisiting it almost 20 years later was a treat. I think it still holds up and is very easy and fast to read. Moreover, it feels very relatable and has some good points about society and human nature while not being on the nose about it. Especially if you don't read much, I'd recommend it wholeheartedly.

...not enough triffids! The author is more focused on how people definitely, inevitably turn against one another in the face of mass disability. Wyndham juggles three concerns: how rad it would be to see when others can't, how awful it'd be for the blind to expect help from the sighted, and how necessary it is to repopulate the world with sighted children; you get pretty sick of each thread, and you really really miss the carnivorous plants promised by the title.

A whole day? More like lunch break of the triffids. Cigarette break of the triffids.

This is one of the best post-apocalyptic stories by the sci-fi master Wyndham. The world is terrorised by triffids, aggressive bioengineered carnivorous plants capable of locomotion, accidentally released from a research laboratory and now cultivated widely for their valuable oil. Incredibly convincing and atmospheric description of a dystopian world not that far from might happen one day if we are not careful with our irresponsible greed and avarice…
