This is one of my absolute favourite books of my childhood. It is a fantastic adventure book, full of twists, turns and a story you just don't expect. I highly recommend it.

Sometimes you tell your librarian friend you read almost all of Chicago Public Library’s Juneteenth recommendations and you absolutely need a chaser. I really liked this escapist, utopian book. Crazy how what we want now we wanted in the 40s.

Hot air balloons, undiscovered tropical islands, mysterious cultures, and a Dr-Doolittle-like humor - what's not to love? (Well, maybe the exoticism of Pacific islands...)

Fun read with the kids. Wonderfully absurd and well paced.
