Come for the L, stay for the BTQ+.

For real, I thought the side characters were a bit more interesting than the main characters

6/5 stars. loooooved it. loved the
subway sex
way less, but the book was enjoyable enough that it could be overlooked. was worried at first, bc chapter 1 August was insufferable, but i'm so glad she let her roommates love her. the supporting cast was very fleshed out and three dimensional, which allowed the book to be as immersive as it was.

This book was pretty darn cute and funny. I definitely laughed out loud at parts. I think it would adapt really well to film or a mini series as a queer rom-com meets sci-fi. There were parts that were romantic clichés or predictable plot points, but I still enjoyed it. It was an easy, lighthearted read.

The tone and many of the cultural references throughout the story very much speak to a Millennial audience. This is definitely one that I would recommend to people in my generation or younger. I could see this being a really impactful story for someone who is discovering their sexuality or gender expression. And for anyone who likes reading romance novels, here is a good one with queer love and plenty of spicy love scenes to titillate. <3 ;)

This was an incredible read. it really felt like a love story to 70’s queer history told in a way that brings it to the present. Casey’s characters are always people you want to root for, regardless of what is going on. She also managed to make it feel like we inhabited all the place in the story and befriended all of the characters. A really fun read!

Very wholesome and full of wonderful characters that completed the story. I fell in love with all of August's flatmates and their partners, because they had weird but interesting personalities and dynamics. I also enjoyed so much August and Jane's relationship, and specially Jane herself (mainly because I admit she is totally my type so I was weak on the knees since second 1) and her story. I am not that keen about the idealization of New York, customer service works with long changing shifts and low wages, and the time travel stuff that ended up being less complex than I imagined; but that's all right. I adored the little moments in which we could get a glimpse of the queer scene in the 70s and some really important historical events for the community.

It is always a pleasure to read about horny sapphics being unabashedly unhinged, loud and proud.

I was really looking forward to this book as a fan of "I Kissed Shara Wheeler." Unfortunately, I almost DNF'd. The only reason I kept going was because I invested so much time in it. It was a really cool concept but the more I read the less interested I became. Something about the pacing was off for me, too - it was a bit too long and just dragged on. I wasn't too into any of the characters, either. I saw really great reviews for this book so maybe I'm just missing something :(
