Captivating collection of short stories. Each so unique, and imaginative. Leone Ross' writing is sublime, making you feel all the emotions. Covering deep topics including abuse, racism, homophobia, sexuality and gender fluidity (to name a few!!) with grace, nuance and a fresh perspective. Many of the stories will stay with me for a long time including: 'Fix', 'Mudman', 'Breathing', 'Art for f**k's sake', 'Drag', 'Roll it'... wow.

Love these stories, favorite being Drag and The Woman who Lived in a Resturant. Each makes me want to learn more about the characters and almost wish they could be expanded into longer novels. Very interesting subjects and love the writing as always with Leone.
A few stories I feel like didn't resonate as much but overall they were fantastic.

win a gift certificate for a book,
come across a new (to you) #JamaicanWomanWriter,
get a book by said writer with the gift certificate,
and start reading it
all within 24 hours.
But that’s what happened.
Thank you @rebelwomenlit for the prize (I won the gift certificate in their #readingChallenge draw), and for introducing me to this person who I feel so identified with who writes these weird and enchanting stories.
And did I mention that some of the stories are... steamy?
Call it... Adventures in #Bookstagram.

Read in bits as each story tends to linger a while, too enjoyable to rush through.

Loved this book. Such different stories but with each one Leone conjures up a wonderful setting, rich characters and compelling stories. Many I found super impactful and really stopped me in my tracks. I found the Mullerian Eminence the most moving. It was also refreshing to read Leones erotic scenes, very sensual and far away from those I’ve read portrayed through the male gaze. A beautiful collection which I love almost as much as Leones book This One Sky Day.
