Thank you to The NOVL for providing me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review! While I wasn't a huge fan of an earlier book by this author, Grace and Fury, I wanted to give her another try because she has so many devoted fans. Sadly, I don't count myself in that category as this one fell flat for me as well. I was pretty engaged at the beginning of the story and the premise itself was interesting (I love an ambitious female villain). But there were several points where the pacing was slow, and then the ending was both predictable and cheesy. I didn't love it or hate it; it just didn't make much of an impact on me, and I expect a lot more out of my fantasy novels!
