I rated this a little higher because I liked the storyline and it really is a nice cozy mystery series. Yes, there are moments when you kind of say Really? But I see that in all cozies.

What I had a hard time with were the errors. I'm surprised the author didn't pick up on some items that were painfully obvious. I blame the editors because they weren't paying attention. Errors this obvious weren't apparent in the first novel. I kept focusing on the author's use of the word shiver. She shivered here. She shivered there. She shivered with the wind. She shivered and then shivered again. And again. And it was all because of the chill. Look, I know it's cold and I know you're scared but there are more words to choose from. The repeating of conversations with Gwen about her boyfriend was weird. The author forgot what clothing items she put John in and that may not have been a big deal if she hadn't described him wearing an outfit similar to her ex-fiancé only three pages before. The fact Natalie had already collected a phone number a few chapters before but had to do it again. These didn't interfere with the story really but they were painfully obvious.

I'll read the next one because I did like the story. Let's see if anyone was paying attention when #3 went to print.

I felt bad for the crazy cat lady! And I had a hard time believing the reason for her death--I mean, really, that guy?!? I also thought that Natalie acted a fool when her former fiance showed up--I thought she had more spunk than that. I'll give this one one more, but if she doesn't shape up, I probably won't read any more of these.

Another fun read from Karen MacInerney. I did not guess the twist in this one. I am hooked on this series and am anxious to start the next one.

I enjoyed this about as much as the first in the series, though the ex-boyfriend part of the plot was kind of pointless. I could use a bit less emphasis on her "thickening waistline" too -- who cares? It has no bearing on the story.

I had read the first in this series (gotten it for free on my Kindle) and saw this second one in the series on sale for 1.99 or 2.99, so I grabbed it while it was discounted. I really love cozy mysteries and like the setting for this one, an inn on an island off the coast of Maine. This one wasn't quite as good as the first, but still enjoyable. Lots of murders going on, on this tiny island, and just our fair innkeeper Natalie to solve them! Yummy looking recipes included at the end, from food she makes for the bed and breakfast :)

I really enjoyed this book, and I will continue to read this series because I find them enjoyable. The only reason I am giving it a 4 stars rather than 5 stars is that it seems like there were some time sequence errors. For example, her ex-fiance thanked her for dinner the night before, but she actually ate dinner with him two nights ago, and in another instance, she made plans to meet a person for the next morning, but she never did until a few days later as an impromptu visit. I think the editor and author just failed to catch some inconsistencies. This just minorly distracted me, but overall, still a great read.
