I've been intending to read this for YEARS. I put it on my to-reads at least a decade ago. Every summer, I told myself it would be the summer to conquer this behemoth, and then every summer would pass while my copy collected another layer of dust as it sat neglected on one of my many bookshelves.

'Well, not THIS summer,' I vowed a few months ago. My plan? To take it, and only it, along on my annual week at the beach - essentially holding myself captive & forcing myself to read it. But, I got the other 8 books on my summer reading list done and had nothing on hand to read...

So, I changed the course of my plans and decided to 'get a head start' on my 'beach read.' I mean, it's huge and I was certain it would last. But, shortly after beginning this most recent quest to read this book, I realized how not into it I was and quickly changed course - again, this time deciding to read AT LEAST 100 pages per day - to hopefully lessen the pain of reading it.

Had I gone with my original plan, my beach week would've been awful.

I've read it and now I'll know what people are talking about in regards to it, but I in no way enjoyed it, nor would I recommend it.
