It was quite sad to finish the series. I loved the ending and how the story progressed. I recommend this series to anyone that likes something a bit more dark. Well, a lot more dark. It is a fun read for a good portion of the series. Great way to end off with all the characters.

Found myself glossing over much of the dialogue in this sad wet fart of an ending. Ultimately nothing lands about the "One Man's War" narrative because everything being said and done is playing the hits of the series so far. The tragedy of Butcher being unable to get past it all is so predictable it leaves much to be desired.

As an ending to the series: it’s fine, I guess. In hindsight the plot was resolved a little too quickly in the last volume and so they had to make an extra six extra issues by having one of the good guys turn bad. A lot of main characters are literally killed off in a handful of pages and then never mentioned again, which sucked.
As for the series overall, I think 3 stars is appropriate. There was some good ideas but the dodgy pacing and uneven art held it back.

What to say in this one - the end. One thing I really like with Ennis is his ability to say when and how he’ll end. No never ending segways and continuous drawn out stories, he ends the lot, and when he does, boy does he end it. I did not expect half of what occurred in these final hundred odd pages. Heart tugging and enraging, he takes everything that’s built up slowly in the previous 11 volumes and kicks the shit out of it, in typical Butcher fashion. There’s no happy ending to be had here but that’s fitting of the collection. Whilst it waned a lot through the midpoint of the comics, the Boys really picked up again at the end and went out with a bang. I did feel some of the motives were a bit slack and unobviously obvious, but still a good read and showed the comic stands better when not over diluted with characters and focussing instead on the core group of players.

It definitely wasn't the ending I would've wanted, I really didn't liked it, but it was pretty fitting. It's a shame what Hughie did in the end, it's understandable, but I think it wasn't very fitting or a good solution - staying alive would be a much bigger punishment than merciful death.
Generally all what has gotten revealed about Butcher was really appalling. He wasn't a good guy anyway, but he seemed to be at least the the "right" side. In a way, his solution makes sense - to get rid of all of them, on the other hand, it's just incredibly brutal.
All in all, I really enjoyed the story as a whole. The more I think about it, the more I dislike the way they turned the comics into the series. There were so many poignant things - especially at the end, and with the directions in which it is heading, I don't think they'll be able to use any of it.
I'm also not a big fan of all the gender swaps - I mean, comics are more for guys, so there are more big boys there. If you'd want to appeal with sex/visuals, you could just include more of the sex stuff from the comics, you don't have to change the genders of characters, especially characters which can't now do certain things that happened in the comic.

Ok, so this series does a bunch right: the premise is neat, Butcher is a compelling weirdo, and all the little mechanical bits of story structure just work. But i remain totally uninterested in Ennis's sexual/racial/etc politics. Regressive reaction masquerading as gritty enlightenment and fair-mindedness. Bah.
