The premise of the book had me hooked immediately.
Girl on the run, girl finds love while in hidding, Girl is found...

Overall I found this book to be quite intriguing, I couldn't stop turning its pages. When I got to the end however, I felt a bit underwhelmed.
I didn't fall in love with the story but I didn't hate it either.

What I liked about the book:

1. The Suspense:
This book is a real page turner. You never know what's going to happen. The monster could find Andra at any time and that had me on the edge of my seat.

2. The writing
The book was very well written. The author's descriptions made it feel as if I was seeing and feeling what Andra was going through.

3. Six
I found myself more intrigued by six than the main character. What does this guy do for a living? He's a mystery all in his own.

Things I didn't like

1. Cora (Andra)
Her personality was somewhat confusing. Her aproach to men and sex seems a little far fetched considering her past. Her actions contradict those of a child that was sexually abused.

Also, she seems to be a little too self aware. I love when a female character is strong, fun, and witty but whith Andra, I think she tried too hard which made her seem fake and unoriginal

2. Nothing Happened
Even though I thoroughly enjoyed the suspence, it never lead to anything. It was dissapointing.

3. Julian and Coras relationship
I just didn't feel like this two characters belonged together. Apart from their aparent lust, there was nothing there. (In my opinion)

This was an audio read for me and I just really struggled to connect to any of the characters and the book just felt too step by step to me, there was an over description for everything and I just couldn't get used to it. I'm seeing a lot of good reviews for this book, but unfortunately it just wasn't my cup of tea

I cannot believe this was Whitney Barbetti's debut novel. This book was so intense and beautifully written, I couldn't take my eyes off of the page. She does an amazing job describing the scene so you are able to visualize it. I found the background story to be very unique and interesting and I loved the suspense aspect throughout.

Loved reading this contemporary romance. There is a painful backstory to the female main character, Cora/Andra but it is the basis for both this book and the next one in the series and the events that unfold within the love story with Julian and outside of it.

The novel definitely achieved a great balance between the psychological thriller and romance.

This was a gem I found in the Audible Plus catalog which does not have a huge selection of romance. I love finding random books by authors I haven't heard of and then end up loving them. This was so good. I love how Whitney Barbetti uses words to capture the characters' feelings. At first I wasn't sure of the insta-love aspect (not usually a fan), but from Andra's POV it seems to be more like insta-lust. I loved that they took things somewhat slowly (even if slow for me is not having sex on the 1st or 2nd date

A great debut novel! Very well-written, but I found the pace to be a little slow and I was expecting more twists and turns, more mystery. (Judging by the novel's description...) But intrigued to find out what happens in the second book!

He Found Me was my very first Whitney Barbetti novel. I was really excited, since I heard many great things about her works from other bookworms.

The prologue had me hooked. I didn't know He Found Me was supposed to be so thrilling but I was really looking forward to the rest of the story.
The following 3/4 was a rather normal romance. Andra and Julian's story was easy and nice but nothing really special. It was just okay in my opinion. Then the book took a turn for the worse. The last quarter was plain ridiculous and not really believable. I skipped through most of it and was glad when it was finally over to be honest.

The initial idea of He Found Me had much potential but the last part was just too much.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This book had some dark background and was on the one hand a bright tale of two people meeting and on the other full of suspense.

Andra is a woman with a changed identity, living happily but covertly on a ranch, laying low. She escaped an abusive past and carries the fears every day. Julian arrives at the ranch, hiring a cabin to write in and they are attracted to one another. Unfortunately the past refuses to stay in the past.

Thoroughly enjoyable and I need to read the next book.
