I had a good time with this one! The premise centers around two of my all time favorite tropes, fake dating and we’re mortal enemies so why am I so attracted to you?!?

We open with Calla’s date standing her up because now that vampires are out in the open, so are hunters and not everyone is eager to jump in bed with vampire killers, even if they’re not allowed to kill them any longer. Which sets the stage for Calla learning her mom just killed a vampire and in order for them to not press charges, she has to agree to fake date the most attractive (murderously evil) woman (bloodsucker) she’s ever met.

Very reluctantly she agrees. From the get go, Calla is at Isolde’s throat, but not in a sexy way, that part comes later. (Maybe a little sexy)

The sexual tension between the two is on point and every time they started fighting I was screaming “just kiss already” at my phone. Spoiler alert, they eventually do and it was everything I wanted it to be.

The plot of the vampire directorate and human council’s machination and coups and the ticking hourglass got a little muddled and the ending felt a bit deus ex machina, but it was overall a super fun and quick read.

I received an ARC from Tallie Rose to read and review but all thoughts are my own.
