This book is very quick, and overall a pretty fun read. It definitely has its issues, and the world building was severely lacking. However, if you go into it just expecting an entertaining, sexy, quick read, it hit the mark. It’s a beauty and the beast retelling only with vampire hunters and vampires, and it’s strongest point is the ability to retell the classic in a way that’s still refreshing and a stand-alone. For sure an easy and fun read!

I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for a review.

I was intrigued by the story not only because of the whole 'Beauty and the Beast' retelling, but by the artwork the author shared on their social media platform.

The story begins with vampires integrating into society and a vampire hunter is stuck between wanting to do the right thing and wanting to let others believe their choices matter. Calla, our vampire hunter, gets thrown into a relationship (of convenience) with Isolde, a vampire.

I particularly loved the banter between Calla and Isolde, but Calla is NOT a loveable character for a better part of the book. Isolde, on the other hand, is very charming and though stuck in a sticky situation, respects Calla beyond measure. There's a lot of forced proximity, but with consent!
