Small Worlds follows Stephen on a journey spanning three years. Surrounded by friends and family, he discovers himself through a set of small worlds.
The way that this story is written is magical. How the constant throughout his life is not only those around him but the music that holds memories and shapes his experiences.
To me there is a lot of unspoken mental wellness struggles that are alluded to throughout, a mentality of men not talking about their feelings and then those around them suffering because of it.
I really loved the parallels between Stephen’s life and the insight we get at the end of his father’s life, including the similarities between his parents love and the love Stephen has for Del.
I picked this up not knowing what to expect but honestly fell in love with this book. It is an incredibly beautiful and moving read.
