I sort of started this under coercion (fulfills a reading challenge prompt + wanted to see what all the fuss was about), but I was delightfully surprised by this one! I still wish romance novel characters could just COMMUNICATE, but I get there wouldn’t be a story without tension and drama. I also didn’t love how the main character kept referring to her work by the general term “science,” rather than biology or cancer research or whatever. That felt weird to me. Other than that, I really enjoyed the reading experience. What won me over was the lovable characters, the focus on consent, and chapter 16. IFYKYK!

I've read 'love on the brain' and 'love, theoretically' first, so it was very interesting to see ali hazelwood's writing improvement backwards. Ngl, the whole "big, brooding, insanely smart and unapproachable guy and small, dainty, sunshiney, quirky, also insanely smart girl" trope is on another level in her work, but most of the time i quite enjoyed it (and just kind of read over those lines). i do find the MCs to be kind of over the top quirky sometimes, but i think the combination of women in STEM and romance is a refreshing read.
Personally, i had to put down the book a few times bc i cringed too much but u do u.
The thing i love (and sometimes roll my eyes over) most about Ali Hazelwoods novels is how head over heels the guys always are while the MC is completely clueless. This always makes me want to read it in one sitting and leaves me giggling and kicking my feet at some point.

All in all her books are just very enjoyable, especially for comfort reads without too much angst.

I understand now why there had been so much hype around The Love Hypothesis. Well written, intentional and creative I would read more from Hazelwood in a heartbeat. Her characters are not complex and the story is easy to digest but these are not bad things. It feels good to read a romantic story about two adults that act like children in love; it’s wonderful! It feels real! Adam and Olive, and the pining for one another is everything important in the book. Even the subtle introduction a social issue and how it was not only applied but confronted was well done. Enjoyable read.

Fabulous, show-stopping, never-been-done-before (by that I mean done at least a million times but not in this way). I love a good man-pines-over-a-girl-who-has-no-idea-the-depth-of-his-feelings-for-her moment. Grumpy × sunshine. All the fun things.

Also, also, women in STEM. What a novel concept (not really, but its nice to see it in the romance genre, or ANY genre, but I digress).
