I grabbed this for terrarium inspiration, my latest whim, the books was so much more though. I found myself inspired to look at what I have, including skills, not just material supplies and create more than just the terrariums I had in mind.

One of the best things about this was the photography of Mark Diancono. It alone was inspiring and he was able to style areas of homes that I might see with my own eyes and call a "crazy jungle" into an inviting oasis that I could see in my own wee home with a few alterations. Also, his shots for the few tutorials in the book were helpful, instructive on their own, and went right along with the text directions.

I mostly skimmed this book. It's more photos than prose, anyway. The photos are very well done and very gorgeous! This is very much an "aesthetic" kind of book.

I did enjoy the How To information on creating terrariums and kokedamas, as well as their two-page spread on how to encourage an orchid to re-flower and how to re-pot them as well. The rest of the book is mostly photos with some text regarding interviews with different people and how they create and curate their own personal small gardens.

Not much by way of instruction or advice but beautifully photographed and produced. A “coffee table” book. Assuming that your coffee table isn’t already covered in house plants...

Aside from being practical and informative, this lovely little book is relaxing and fascinating for nature lovers like myself. Complete with stunning photographs.
