I listened to most of this book on day spent in the car, and it was the perfect immersive escape.

The writing at every level is so sensational. From crafting the story events and characters, all the way down to the absolute art of invoking emotion and ambiance not just through achingly precise diction and lyrical prose, but syntax, for god’s sake. I will forever remember the impact of the sentence, “The silence she felt as pain.”

I learned how to be a better writer from this book, and I also learned how to be a better human. Five well-deserved stars from me.
