An interesting and immersive read but not something I would pick up again

Pros:
- the little boy's POV feels real and he isn't annoying despite being a child
- the magic system is unique and interesting with a hint of mystery
- happy endings are always nice

Cons:
- The story didn't grab me as much as Coraline did
- I hated the villain (which is good) but not in the way I particularly liked. She felt a bit tedious near the end.

Overall: It's a good story but felt a little slow and just wasn't my cup of tea.

Boooring. Idk there was so much magic and supernatural elements all packed into 180 pages. There were no descriptions what so ever and I felt like I was missing a lot of context and explanations. The characters were also not explored one bit, they didn’t have any personalities. It would be a one star read but the last chapter was good so I gave it two. All and all, not worth your time in my opinion.

This was beautiful and simple and fantastic and it may have changed my life a little. I can't stop thinking about it, even after reading a few books since. It's lovely. It's Gaiman. What else is there to say, really?
