It's exactly as good as the previous seven books, though the plot was a little lazy.

I'm glad to see some development in the Stephanie/Ranger dynamic. I still think he's the losing end of the love triangle.

Evanovich is a master at creating laugh out loud vignettes in her Stephanie Plum series. Yes, the books are formulaic and light reads. I would not want to read this series exclusively from beginning to end exclusively because of the predictability and lack of gravitas but these books including Hard Eight are like a funny, cozy blanket a reader can curl up in when you need an entertaining laugh. Recommended reading interspersed within other books and especially during or after a difficult week.

Janet Evanovich does a great job in giving her followers an easy, funny, and exciting read. All of her Plum books are great. I recommend them for the busy reader...or if you need a book for an airplane trip. I love her characters...they all have their own individual looks and personality which gives life to the books. Each book has it's own bounty hunter drama...and what could go wrong does. You'll fall in love with her writing and want to read all umpteen Plum books.
