Loved it. The ghosts were entertaining as always. I really loved the sexual tension that developed between Keaton and Reggie. The murder/crime plot was pretty interesting as well, even though I didn’t really love the conclusion (but that has nothing to do with the writing, I just though it was going to go in a different direction). This series has been great and I don’t know if the author has any more instalments planned, but I hope so.

Both zany and suspenseful, the book was a fun ride.

I abso-freaking-lutely (yes that is a word in my vocabulary) LOVE this author! The pure wit of her characters blows me away every time. Even with this series dealing with serious crimes investigations, the character snark is strong. I get so involved in the intense storylines and then the sass comes out and I bust up laughing out loud and get tons of weird looks (because I am usually some place public and quiet). I am so in love with Hiro and want him for my true life mate.

Reread/Relisten April 2024:

What a ride, I hope there are more books in this series in the future, cause there are way too many adventures these characters can get up to!

Original Read/Listen January 2023:
Audio: 5 stars

Book: 4 stars

Compared to books one and two I didn’t love this one as much. I think if there was a little less OTT humor and more mystery I would have had enjoyed this more.

But it was still great to be with these characters! I wonder if there will be a book four? Haha

This did give me some “In the Mind” vibes (another series from Alice Winters) by playing a game with a killer… but I still enjoyed this book.

Bummed that there isn’t any more books from this series at the moment (fingers crossed)! Now to find the next book!

If the previous two books showed me that ghosts and trouble are drawn to Hiro, this book showed me that sometimes trouble seeks him out on purpose.

Being part of a serial killer's twisted, fucked up game was not part of their plan, but Hiro and Maddox will do what's necessary to try to stop the killing before it happens. Even if Hiro's abilities are going a little haywire. And the killer is taking full advantage of that.

Even with Hiro and Maddox fighting against the clock to thwart the killer - who can also see and manipulate ghosts - other secrets are being revealed. While Hiro struggles to come to terms with everything changing around him, and far too many near-death experiences for my liking, Maddox is always by his side, supporting him, and keeping his head above water.

The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, and definitely gave me anxiety. And honestly, I should have seen the main twist coming, but I really didn't. And that made Hiro and Maddox resolving the case feel that much more gratifying to me.

I loved going on this journey with Hiro and Maddox. I loved meeting their rag tag team of ghosts, and watching as their relationship grew and flourished. I would love to see them again - and I can hope for a guest appearance in other series, perhaps. But I am really glad with the way this trilogy played out, and how it all came together in the end.
