Not bad, but not great. The first half was good, but the second half was kind of a mess.
The twists at the end seemed so random and forced and make zero sense. It kind of felt like the last 10% of the book negates all the plot development of the first 90%.
Overall a messy domestic thriller that leaves you disappointed by the end and wondering why it was so long only to not actually develop anything.

While Local Woman Missing starts off strong with two women going missing, one along with her daughter, and the daughter showing back up 11 years later, it quickly becomes clear that this is not your typical whodunnit. Almost everyone has a motive, but maybe not the person who did it. Almost everyone is cheating on their spouses, but that’s might have nothing to do with anything. And EVERYONE is lying.
But it sounds interesting, right? That’s what I thought after reading the back of the book too, but it wound up being so much more graphic and dark than I was expecting.

This book would’ve gotten five stars for the 2 amazing twists that I didn’t see coming, but I had to take two stars away because I did not want to know that many details about the medical abuse line of investigation or the several day old dead body. It was also a little confusing to read since it switches between a few different narrators and 2-3 different time periods. Overall, it was a decent read, but a little too graphic for me.

I felt really sucked in and didn’t see the twist coming. I understand why people didn’t enjoy this book because I was also annoyed at first with the twist. But I personally feel like the author tied it together well enough for me.

I was told the book would be a gripping thriller and it was. The twist at the end cheapened the story.

This book took a lot of turns that I wasn’t expecting and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Went in blind to reading this book. Not what I expected. I was really into the beginning and it did a good job of merging the different POV together seamlessly . But the explanation was left for the last like 50-80 pages and felt so rushed and left me feeling like “that’s it??”
