This was really funny. I liked watching teenage, sassy Raphael and Magnus interact.

This one was really good!! Again, it is probably because other familiar characters were included. It was really exciting to see how Raphael became a vampire. I found him to be an interesting and mysterious character in The Mortal Instruments and and wanted to know more about him, and now I do.

Magnus taking Raphael on by himself was amazing, considering his past. Magnus saw Raphael as himself and was worried for him even though he drove Magnus crazy. The way he genuinely cared about how Raphael's mother and family would treat him after being turned was really nice. He made sure that Raphael was ready to see his family. He didn't want Raphael's family to catch on to the fact that he's been turned into a vampire. He didn't want to see Raphael be cast out and lose the love of his family as he had.

I did hate that Magnus didn't open up to him about the horrible ways his mother and stepfather treated him - the way he had lost his parents love. I wish he would have told him, and then maybe Raphael wouldn't have treated him so nastily. But Magnus wouldn't be Magnus if he didn't keep his sense of humor at all times while remaining mysteriously secretive.

My favorite line was

"Once Raphael is gone, he thought, he was getting a cat. And he would always throw his cat a birthday party."

In fairness, my likeness to Magnus came back in this story and I'm glad to see what Raphael's persona is like

Definitely one of my favorites so far. I absolutely love Raphael and I enjoyed getting to read about his backstory. His & Magnus's banter was also hilarious.

Through out the sic books of the mortal instruments series I did not develop any feelings for Rafael , I actually disliked him sometimes and when he was killed off all I felt was relief that he did not kill Magnus and I was very curious about what does Rafael owe him . And this novella did not only answer my curiosity about the " Magnus saved my life once , I owe him ", but also it totally made me see a whole new side of Rafael .Despite his hurtful comments and harshness , he actually was a very pleasant character to watch as he figured out how to adapt with his new life .
