Really great handbook and should be on your shelf as a quick reference guide in a leadership pinch.

Based on his podcast I've been reading through some of his books - an interesting mix of scenarios from the battle field, lessons learnt and how they apply to the corporate environment.
The advice is less macho than I'd expected, but as another reviewer pointed out it is advice that men have the luxury of being able to follow as they have so much implicit power and authority already.

Compared to Jocko’s other books, this “Field Manual” covers the more more micro level of leadership. While his principle of extreme ownership is on display on every page, much more attention is given to situations that leaders might face in their daily business. Even those who disagree with Jocko’s style of leadership will benefit from this quick dive into the practical aspects of his methods. With lots of good advice and recommendations, this is a worthy candidate for an aspiring leader’s bookshelf.

This is the most practical, to-the-point, book on leadership principles I have read. You can tell Jocko is as naturally gifted leader that wants the team (and you) too succeed. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to lead or someone who wants to understand deeper the problems leaders can face.
