Well it's probably 25 years or so since I last read a Famous Five. I was curious to see how it would go now I'm an adult. I loved these books as a kid! As an adult, I guess it was ok. Familiar friends doing exactly what I expected. I can't believe how much food features in the book! Every time something happens and the five get half a chance, they are tucking into hearty helpings of whatever's available and it always tastes delicious.
Meanwhile Timmy is still eating up ice creams in one mouthful and copping complaints from the others because he doesn't even taste it.
It was nice to read it but I don't need to read another one. Maybe a magic faraway tree book though! Kind of miss those.

Revisiting my all time favorite series as a child. Rereading them as an adult not only takes just an hour or two, but it is also a nice 'breather' from your day.

I'm partial to this adventure because I feel like it's been their highest risk one yet. It's lovely.
