Really loved this mystery book. 4/5 ⭐️

A girl is found in a car accident with no ID and no memory. Fast forward 15 years she still is suffering from amnesia when suddenly she disappears. Her best friend is trying to look for her as she’s looking, clues keep popping up about the girl’s forgotten past. Told in a couple different POV’s.

4 stars bc it felt like the POVs and scenes would jump randomly. Plus I was trynna be a smart girl and figure it and I kinda did but still a great read nonethelsss

The only reason it took me a week to read Find Me (US title) was that I listened to the audio book on a recent road trip with my Mum. It’s the only time we were captive in the car (6- hours each way) and once I’d started we didn’t want to listen to it without the other hearing the end. Thanks Libro.fm for the complimentary copy.

Essentially this is a story about a missing woman named Hope Miller who, after moving to the Hampton’s goes missing after staging a home and borrowing $2000 from her boss. Her only real friend in the world Lindsay (a defence lawyer) is worried about her but she can’t seem to raise anyone else’s interest, including the local police.

Hope has a past however and it may have caught up with her. The only problem is Hope doesn’t know anything about it, beyond being found on the side of the road following a car accident 15 years previous. Lindsay’s father was involved in finding her and she has been with their family ever since - retrograde amnesia preventing her from living anything but a sheltered life, until the move.

Fine Me involves a few alternate storylines - including another police officer Ellie Hatcher (a previous character in Burke’s books though this is a standalone) who has struggled to make sense of her father’s passing to suicide four years before in Wichita Kansas. The interconnectedness of the storylines was well done and Lindsay was a great character. Tenacious and dogged in her search for her friend, you could sense her frustration each time she felt unheard. There was a balance between others perceptions of Hope in not knowing her, to Lindsay’s who knows her … but wonders how well?

The audio was good though at the time I couldn’t figure out if it was one female narrator all the time (a good thing perhaps)

CW - precious trauma, child abuse, death of a parent
