I went searching for a racing romance and found this. I liked the premise and backstop so I decided to give it a go. The first 2 chapters were cringy. Very simple writing style with anecdotes that could be read on wattpad. However, if you push past those 2 chapters, it is a good book. I honestly almost dnf because of those two chapters so beware if you dive in.

Ok, a few things (with spoilers I’m sorry)

1 He sucked so much in the first half, can he think of anything that isn’t sex and being an arrogant asshole?
2 He should never have taken her back
3 He’s so in love that he dates someone else??
4 That big reveal was so underwhelming (by the way here’s my big secret/ yeah I know)??

Also I just hate when there are irish mcs clearly not written by an irish person

US authors really need to do proper research on Ireland "Howth" not "Houth"

I honestly don't really know how to rate this book.I haven't read a lot of books from this author and for me it was mainly just the female lead I had a problem with which made it really hard to get through the book.

As a young child Andi witnessed her fathers death during one of his f1 races which (ovi) caused a huge impact on her life. Nevertheless she grew up to be a very accomplished female mechanic and she gets a job with a family friends to be a mechanic for one of the up and coming race car driver.Because of everything that happened with her father she understandable has a no dating drivers rule. But that all gets tested when this new up and coming driver is a hot womanizer who wants to be more then just her friend. Shes seen first hand what happened when you "carry on" with Carrick but she can't stop the lust she feels every time she see's him.

At the beginning of the book this made Andi into such a strong female lead. She was driven, with a goal, and principles. Don't sleep with the people you work with, and don't get involved with a driver.
obviously shes the female MC she was eventually gonna cave. But after only meeting him 3 times really and after that she made no real attempts to hold onto her rules about not falling for a driver.
Andi's constantly going back and forth on her relationship with Carrick once they sleep together she said she didn't want anything more then a one night stand and then wouldn't leave him alone even when they had a steady relationship going she went and she missed it up. I get that she was scared because of what happened with her father but she was terrible at communicated that with him and he had to suffer the consequences she lead Carrick on time and time again. She was so emphatic to everyone else around her but Carrick as the story grew she continuously only focused on her feelings not his. Don't get me wrong am all for doing what best for you but at least thing about how that's gonna effect the other people in your life.

As for Carrick I think he had the potential to such an intresting and relatable character but the author just missed the change. She never really went into the layors of Carrick other then the fact that his mother left. The fact that he got with another girl and then told Andi every time he slept with whatever he name is he thought about her that was honestly so shitty. I wish we could've seen more into his life cause I feel like he had so many thoughts and emotions that were just covered up

Now am not gonna lie both characters did things that we're unfair towards each other but Andi consciously dug herself and there relationship into a whole. Am hoping its just this book because the writing itself was good

I was really rooting for the main couple, and the perceived obstacle was pretty good. That being said, some truly awkward sentences pulled me out of it often enough that it dropped down from 3.5. Best F1 romance I've read so far I think though.
