Enjoyable Read!

I normally do not read books that include zombie-type characters. They tend to have more grossness than I can handle. Yep, I am a wimp. *lol* When I had a chance to read an advanced copy of a book co-authored by one of my favorite authors, J.R. Rain, I jumped at it. I was not disappointed.

After a slow start, I found Richelle to be a spunky, determined and quite likable. I have to admit some of her early reactions were a bit too calm and accepting. It was like dead/undead status was no big deal in the beginning. Lorna, Bull, and Tamara were interesting characters as well. I wanted to smack Devin from his very first appearance. He is just a nasty spoiled brat. I didn't know if I liked Malena until the end. Malena's instincts were right about Val.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would read a sequel should it come about.

* I received a free ARC of "The Dead Detective" for an honest review.

I had never heard of this one, or read this author but I have to admit, this one was not bad at all. Not your typical zombie/horror story at all, but more of a humor/thriller type?

When a detective wakes up with a large bullet hole in her chest, she must figure out who killed her, why, and how the heck is she still walking around with no pulse, no breath, and her body temp very cold?

I actually enjoyed this one, a nice palate cleanser.

[b:The Dead Detective|23351877|The Dead Detective|J.R. Rain|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1412946524s/23351877.jpg|42909219][a:J.R. Rain|5753883|J.R. She is the very definition of dead, but somehow, she is walking, working and trying to solve the mystery of her murder. This book involves gypsies, walking corpses and many more strange characters. I am not sure If I will continue with the rest of the series but, I was definitely intrigued with the strange storyline and even stranger characters.

Different

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. It’s definitely different and I’ll read more to watch the development of a…new…character. Trigger warning because there are controversial topics towards the end. R@*3
