Very fun "magic" concept. I'm glad I hadn't read this since it originally came out since I'll have to still wait longer for another book to maybe be released. Good intro to sanderson's writing style though I'm sure still very different from his big series.

Really interesting magic system with chalk fighting. Sounded like it might be a little boring, but it was not! As always, incredibly well thought out and expressed system of how chalk magic works. Cannot believe (although with his schedule I kind of can) there is not an official second book or follow up for this story yet… ahhhh! But anyway..
characters were really great for the story, growth was really interesting, plot and mystery was great.

This book made me stay up late to finish it! I hate that there isn't a sequel. Page-turner for sure. The moral lessons for the teenage protagonist and the Mormon-y themes are just a little too overt for my forever shelf, but I really enjoyed it and will read more from this author.

The geometry-based magic system is super unique and really gets into the weeds. Exciting adventure, good vs evil, clean story and good character on display. Very riveting, clever strategizing, and a
happy, then cliffhanger
ending.
