Yet another book I had no business buying but thought the cover was cool enough and bought it anyway only to later find out that I am definitely not the target audience for it.

This book wasn't bad overall, it was very interesting to see things through the point of view of a person struggling with chemical dependence. With that being said, I would definitely have enjoyed it a whole lot more if contemporary novels about war/crime were my thing.

Good book, but hard to read. One of those books that I'm glad I read, but will never read again. Not recommended for war veterans or those who have been experienced life in a war zone. A very honest and accurate depiction of the Iraq War and risks retraumatizing those who experienced war.

If I didn’t have a need to finish almost every book I start, I wouldn’t have reas this whole novel. I know the story was taking place in the early-mid 00’s but I was very put off by the frequent use of the r word and the blatant misogyny. It made it hard to get through.
