This was definitely a cute book, but I still think I prefer the first!

I’m usually a huge fan of romances but this one didn’t click with me. I remember enjoying the bodyguard/princess relationship in the first, but I didn’t like the love triangle setup (although it’s a personal preference—I’ve never like love triangles in YA).

I know Izumi is just barely college-age, but she almost felt younger in the sequel. She felt a little whiny at times, and Eriku deserves better from her.

Quick,enjoyable sequel

Tokyo dreaming is a great follow up to the first book. I definitely recommend for lovers of YA and Japanese culture.

SO MANY SPOILERS BELOW! SO SO MANY!
LITERALLY THE FIRST SENTENCE IS A SPOILER!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

You have to be pretty bold to spend an entire book leading up to a romance only to have them break up in chapter 6. It was a good reunion, even if a line or two was a little too descriptive, but holy shit dude the gale of this author.

Favorite moments:
Any romance between anyone ever
Izumi's dad being a total himbo for her mom
Best friend visits with Noora

Parts that I wanted to love so much more!:
Low key was really annoyed that they broke up, espeically when Eriku got introduced because I hate love triangles. Right when I'm team Eriku, they break up! I stg got me running all over the place.
Aside from that, liked the pacing and that every chapter didn't always pick up where the last one left off. It gave some much needed spice and variety, but I wish that those piviotl moments of decision making (Eriku or Akai, Botany or Poetry) were talk about more. In both cases the choice just kind of happens. Its a little surprising especially given how much time is spent developing Eriku's character and their relationship. Love that guy btw.

I hope the author writes a third book and fills it with lovely fluff and romance and friendship and maybe some Akai acting as a boyfriend who simply can't stop being a bodyguard antics. Gotta love it.
