It's alright. It's clear from the first chapter that it's not gonna take itself too serious with a premise that's been done to death. I can completely relate to Akira's simple minded attitude: It's the motherfucking apocalypse so let's live life. No one's gonna expect you to got to work or school during the end of the world, right?
The "zombie" premise is just to get the story going. We already know that it is so we don't have to be boggle down with expository information. We already know what is happening. We can figure out why later. Meanwhile, we can focus on the outcomes of the apocalypse and how it's affecting people of various backgrounds.
There's a lot of awkward comedy moments that might be a bit off putting, but there are also some genuine human moments, along with some dope art, that will keep any horror manga coming back for more. It also skews to some ecchi stuff every now and then, but it's in that range of an R-Rated movie, which is not saying much since most horror movies are more marketable if it's PG-13, but it is something.
It also keeps you on your toes, not really expecting what's gonna come next.
So 3 1/2 stars. I'd see this becoming an anime in the distant future.
