Warning for this review: I tend not to like #1s. I find that, more often than not, they are a necessary evil, an information dump that tells us the information we need to know so that the real story can begin in #2 or #3.
And, for the first half of this issue, I really wondered if this series would be for me or not. But then the second half came, and while it was somewhat information-dump-y, it did provide me with the spark of excitement and expectation, the hope that ensured that I will read #2 and look forward to a fun and interesting story.
So, 3 stars for this issue, but I have hopes of at least 4 stars to come…
