I enjoyed that this book had a lot more politics involved, with all of the courts involved and getting to learn their backstories.
I’m interested to see what happens with the other queen and also Tamlin. Even though he had some redemption this book, he’s still not a great person and deserved what happened to him and that he lost everything.
Really happy with Nesta’s character arc this book and really liked getting to know her more as a character. I feel like we still haven’t really gotten to see Elain so we’ll see how her story progresses in the next few books.

The ending had me sobbing when their dad showed up with the 3 ships and at his death. I will say, I felt almost.. disappointed that everyone else lived?? Like, there needed to be a larger sacrifice, something super heart wrenching. I really thought she was going to leave Amren gone. I knew Rhys wasn’t going anywhere so while it was hard to read, I wasn’t overly worried. I was pretty sure either Cassian or Azriel would be casualties and was surprised Maas wrote everyone to live.Graphic: Torture, Slavery, Violence, Blood, War, Death, Death of parent, Murder, Panic attacks/disorders, Injury/Injury detail, Kidnapping, and Gore

- Okay it put me in a pretty big reading slump not gonna lie. Like i picked up to other books in an attempt to get me to keep reading it. But the plot was so tense at certain points that it kept me interested. I did hate that the whole book was centered on war and politics like i could’ve cared less. Why did it take them 700+ pages for the war to happen in the last 200. I was not amused. Even though we hate Tampon i would like to give him a hug for being lonely now. Like it wasn’t his fault he had attachment issues well maybe it was but i don’t know if i would want him to drop his roll as high lord of the spring court to go be with luicien at velaris. But also how is Az and Luic gonna fall in love with Elain like im dancing on the edge ready to find out. What else are they to face now that hybern is gone ??? Idk if I’ll continue reading or not havent decided yet.overall it was an okay book I wouldn’t 100% recommend it though.

First and foremost, this is a book about war. While I felt the pacing worked well, the battle scenes did start to feel repetitive, and I felt myself eager to get past the action and on to some character development. Speaking of which, I felt as if the characters took smaller strides of development as compared to the last book. For instance,

Feyre made leaps and bounds in ACOMAF in terms of growing into someone who could accept love, who could love herself, and who was confident enough in herself to be powerful. I was hoping to see Nesta and Elain, who were also put through a traumatic transformation, have similarly dramatic character arcs, but it seemed they didn't change all that much by the end. Not only that, but Rhysand and Feyre seemed a little stagnant in their relationship in this book. As a reader who was invested in their relationship, I'm so happy to see them happy, but I was also looking forward to seeing they work through some real difficulties as a couple. However, what really let me down about the plot was the constant deus ex machina that seemed to be wrapping up the hardships of this book in a pretty bow. Instances such as

the seemingly unending supply of surprise armies that came to save the day, or that there were no really big sacrifices that anyone had to make. Sure, Rhys "died" briefly, but the entire main cast made it out alive. Even Amren after what was supposed to be a big sacrifice moment. That, and Tamlin being portrayed as this irredeemable villian, but he just so happens to show up as a good guy at all the right moments? That all being said, I have to admit that I still enjoyed this read, and it had some lovely twists and turns that kept me turning pages. I felt invested in all the main characters, and I was cheering them all on from page one. This felt like a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. That, and it does leave room and intrigue for other spin off stories, which is a very exciting aspect of this in-process series!
