Despite this one feeling longer and a bit slower than the previous books, it might have been my favorite? I like how Tamlin's character evolves, I like the twists, I like the complicated politics of the war and everyone's relationships.

I was a sobbing mess after I finished this. I don't know what to say. I think this book is more perfect as the last book of the series and the next books are just novellas. It kinda makes me not want to read the next books, but I'm still curious to what happen after the war with Hybern, whether the humans and the faes can live side by side. But this book, it was really good from the start until the end. I kinda disappointed in the middle of the story because Feyre didn't fully use her powers, but she always did something unexpected. I'm proud of her. I'm proud of The Court of Dreams and the ones fighting beside them. To the stars who listen—and the dreams that are answered. Hopefully, I can still enjoy the next two books as this book and the second book.
SpoilerThe beginning of Feyre destroying Spring Court is certainly made a strong impression.

This book was one where a lot seemed to happen at the same time that very little seemed to happen. The plot moved along swiftly, but there was little change in the relationships between the characters.

Being a war book, the beginning part was a lot of scheming and the end was a lot of battles. Many new characters were introduced, but none were fully fleshed out. That seems to be a weakness of this series as a whole; only a few small set of characters get fleshed out with any sense of depth.

Spoiler Everyone survived, and I really didn’t appreciate it. Maas will supposedly injure her characters, but they are always fine in the end, which just gives me the feeling of why did I just read this book. At least, Rhys, Cassian, and Armen should be dead.

An a final complaint, the word mate is used far to frequently. We get it. There are mates, but they can use each others names.

I‘d say the pace is a bit weird at places. The first 100p a lot happens, then nothing for 300p or so and then the finale hits. That finale is grand though. And though I wish some characters had been integrated into the sory better and focused on more, if you love the main characters you‘ll have a splendid time.
The author is very good at
capturing the main characters’ trauma as well as writing genuine horror elements into the plot where you least expect them.
Any complains I do have mostly stem from the previous two installments and differnece in taste between me and the author. I can respect that she focuses on other aspects of the story and characters and her disregard for things I would have love to see.
