4.5⭐️ all the feelings! The men in this series are mythical creatures of feminist excellence, I adore them. The FMC is autistic and suffers from an autoimmune disease (so she lives with chronic pain) and the rep is elite. I come from a neurodiverse fam, so loved this very beautiful characterisation—I believe the author is autistic, and you could really feel the own voices vibes here.

I was squealing out loud for the majority of this book at the utter adorableness of these two. Shakespeare club?! The shirt?! Muttered Elizabethan curses?! I was dying

This was a refreshing cute and sweet read!

I enjoyed so much about this book. I loved how different the characters were. Ren Bergman is like this cuddly unrealistically sweet and perfect man. Chloe has no business creating these perfect men !

Frankie is this serious sarcastic hard working woman that is always making sure the hockey team is shining on social media. Ren is a hunky hockey player with a killer smile and a heart of gold. He’s shy and he has been waiting for the right moment to take his shot at Frankie. Frankie has already made up her mind about romance and thinks she can’t possibly have a chance at love with her diagnosis.

I loved that these characters were kind of innocent and relatable. My reading selections don’t often have a shy man and a blunt woman. It was nice to see the characters develop and grow into loving themselves and becoming more confident. I loved the references to Shakespeare and Jane Austin as a lover of the classics. This was a a slow burn with the perfect amount of sexual tension and humor to keep you interested.

Me, last week: Oh, Ryder is the love of my life.
Me, now: I don’t know Ryder, I can’t read suddenly. Ren is the only one for me, actually.

Loved: Autism and chronic illness representation!!! That’s basically all I need to read a book, and I think it was done well.

Didn’t love: I don’t looooove
martyr complexes in my main characters personally.

4 stars!

I love this series for the representation it offers of many people (hearing paired, amputee, autism, RA, ETC). It's refreshing. In the first of this series it was center stage. I did really love how it complimented the story. Still in this one I liked the matter of fact nature of autism and RA. I loved that Ren wasnt deterred and it just shifted some of how he acted without being anything he totally had to process. Another thing I liked was the portrayal of a hockey player who didn't sleep around a lot before he unexpectedly found the one like so many hockey romances are like. Ren wasnt my fave 'book boyfriend' but I did think he was sweet. If you have to ask a girl if she enjoyed it I think there might be a problem. Loved the blushing. I couldn't get behind his family being less supportive, it just didn't seem like they wouldn't be more invested soccer fam or not. And to end with something I really liked. Their relationship wasn't exactly allowed but it didn't become a plot point. It was refreshing and cute.

This book was fantastic.....for the first 50ish%.

I loved everything that this book was doing. I have a chronic illness/autoimmune disease, and thought this might be triggering, but it was all well done and I loved that aspect more than I could have predicted.

But after 50-60% of the novel, the extremely slow burn and plethora of redundant conversations and delays made my attention wane and my interest flee.

This was a sold 4-4.5 stars until then.
