A little girl gives her friend James the silent treatment when she thinks he is talking about her behind her back. However, she quickly realizes how long a day is without his friendship – and exactly what happened to cause the rift.

While I enjoyed this book and think it is an excellent tool to help children learn about forgiveness and gossip, I thought that the point of resolution was a little vague for younger minds. I caught it but it was so subtle and will depend greatly on a narrator’s voice and tone for listeners to catch it. If reading aloud, be sure to give it a read through first.

This is a super cute picture book about friendship. I love that this story deals with how easy it is for friends to have issues with each other and that those issues can often be simple misunderstandings. This is a great book for any classroom dealing with he said/ she said problems.

I like this story about a misunderstanding that leads to one-sided strife in a friendship, but felt that something was missing in the climactic moment that left me unsure if that point was made as strongly as I hoped. The illustrations are enjoyable, and I think many kids could relate to it.

As an overly sensitive type, I really appreciated this book quite a bit.

Excellent book for talking to kids about rumors and the importance of going directly to the source.

A super sweet book that would be good for teaching kids about rumours and how they can easily be misunderstood!

I very much enjoyed the artwork and there's no question that books on this subject are needed, but I wanted there to be more resolution!

Ehhh. James told someone, who told someone, who told someone that the main character is perfect. But you know how a game of telephone works. It doesn’t end the same way it started. In the end she learns that he was talking about her painting and she feels better. From the way it began I figured it would be a lesson on the telephone game, and instead it was a let down. Just boring to be honest.

This was a really cute book about the dangers of listening to rumour! Our poor protagonist thinks that her best friend said something mean about her because she heard from the sister of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend who supposedly heard it from James. She ignores him for a whole day until she finds out that broken telephone isn't entirely trustworthy and they're friends again at the end.
