Reading new words from Pam Godwin after so long was an absolute thrill. I am not kidding when I say I would walk over broken glass for new stories from her, so I was in Heaven just opening the first page.

Only to promptly fall into this twisted Hell of remote Alaska with Frankie and the strangers she finds herself face to face with each day. She's kidnapped, dr*gged, and removed from everything she knows. With no escape, no way to call for help, and secrets all around. She has no one to rely on except herself.

Listen ya'll, I don't know how to review this book for you without spoilers. So I'm just going to say that there are some characters I would do anything for and some that deserve the most painful kind of ending that you can dream up. My emotions were all over the place and I didn't know who to trust.

I can honestly say I've never read a story quite like this one.

When I got to a certain point, I had a tiny hunch what *might* be going on, but I quickly shrugged it off. That can't be it, could it?

Yes ma'am. Yes it could.

You will be shocked, horrified and morbidly riveted for a good portion of this story and then.. then she'll leave you on a cliffhanger and peace out. But dang... I am hyped for Cage of Ice and Echoes.

My final comment is that: yes, she does have 2 levels of TWs available for readers. One with general non-spoilery ones and another with the BIG ones. Everything short of c@nnibalism is fair game. I cannot say this STRONGLY enough. If you are a Dark Romance lover and you genuinely can handle anything... I highly, HIGHLY, recommend you don't look. The impact will be even better if you just let it ride. I'm not your mama, I'm just saying, you know if you're a DR reader what you can handle. A lot of us look just because we want a peek at some spoilers (guilty!!), but I promise you... nothing Pam does is gratuitous or just to shock you. It's deeply rooted in the secrets of this story and you don't want to rob yourself.

If you are someone who gets truly triggered by Dark Romance elements.. this book is NOT for you. Go find a nice Mafia Romance or Serial K*lling couple. But if you're ready for something unlike anything else..

Take a leap and dive in. HOSS is waiting with all it's secrets and you'll want to discover it along with Frankie.

I bow before your brilliance, Pam Godwin. ALL HAIL MY DARK ROMANCE QUEEN.

If you love dark romance, I can't recommend this enough. Hills of Shivers and Shadows was definitely a page turner. It's dark romance with tons of suspense/thriller elements.
This book was WILD. There was a twist in there I wasn't expecting in my wildest imagination.
There are characters to fall in love with and characters to hate. This book pulled every emotion out of me, and let me tell you some parts were absolutely gut-wrenching! It kept me up at night, and I don't just mean to read it. This one haunted me.
You won't get any spoilers from me, I like to go into books blind except for reading the trigger warnings, and especially for this one, I recommend you do too. Pam Godwin outdid herself with this one, and I can not wait for the rest of the series to come out 🖤

This is the first in a series, and it does end on a cliffhanger; you know I love a good cliffhanger!

This one is very dark, so as always, check the trigger warnings; they're there for a reason.

I was anxiously excited for this new series from the lovely Pam Godwin and she has written a story that is absolutely sensational and I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! 📖
Refusing to read the blurb or any early reviews I went into it blind, not caring what the book was about, because Pam always delivers stories with jaw dropping and eye opening story lines. As well as mind blowing characters that leap off the page and into my head and heart easily, without resistance.
I needed 24 hours to digest and go over in my mind what was thrown at me as a reader, getting all my thoughts in order, but I am still scrambling and regurgitating it all!
There is not a favorite character for me, they all equally share that top spot, but Denver is despicable, cruel and a deviant and I wish him nothing but the anger and resentment.
Of course Frankie is lovable and adorable, she has the strength of ten men, is still kind and caring to those who deserve it. Her relationship with Leo, Kody, and Wolf is all over the place, she loves them equally, but differently, and struggles with how to express her different love to them individually.
The last 50% of the book was intense, with non stop chaos and calamity, but what broke me was that ending. Yes it's a cliffhanger, yes a lot of information was dumped, leaving some questions answered but opening a whole nest of other issues and matters that were shocking and disturbing.
I can't wait for Cage of Ice and Echoes!

Amazing incredible book!! It gripped me so strongly that I could barely put it down, barely sleep, and when I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about this story.

The writing: the book is set in an icy tundra, and Pam does such an amazing job of describing it that I could actually feel the cold, the ice, and the snow - even though it’s summer where I live and I’ve never seen snow in my life before. The writing is amazing: it’s sharp and pointed, soft and beautiful, tense and suspenseful, cozy and comforting all in the right moments.

The plot: It is such a great example of what a dark romance should be. It’s transgressive and dark, but the romance in it shows such a beautiful and pure love even with all the darkness surrounding it. And coupled with the romance is a mystery so compelling that you can’t help but wonder about it alongside the characters too. The pacing is perfect, and it hits all the right emotional marks.

The characters: my favourite part of the book is are the characters! Every single one is so vivid, three-dimensional, and complex. Each one has a strong and unique voice. The FMC is both soft AND strong, which I love. The MMCs… well I won’t spoil it for you, but they’re gorgeous both inside and out. The characters and the plot have a great dialectical relationship where they both push and influence each other.

The spice: it’s a bit of a slow burn with the full spice, but the sexual tension is there from the very beginning, and there are spicy moments sprinkled throughout the whole story so I didn’t feel like I was missing out on any spice at all. And when it does finally hit… oh boy, it hits alright.

Please check with TWs and if they’re ok for you, then absolutely read this book!
