if you enjoy true crime, definitely check this one out. it had me hooked super early on + i definitely didn’t see the ending coming. 9.2/10

Decent
The storyline was decent and kept moving. However the characters felt stunted. My primary disappointment were the grammatical and punctuation errors.

So I'm picky about my thrillers, sometimes. If the writer gives me time to catch a breath and think, "wait, would the police really allow her to have access to a crime scene?" then it's not my favorite read.
At the same time, the writing was well done, and the mystery element was a good, solid. Some elements came to our main character too easily, but I was still drawn in.
Also, enjoyed the reverse fish-out-of-water element. Instead of an Irish immigrant making their way in the U.S., we've got an American CSI trying to make her way in Dublin. Enjoyed that aspect very much.
At the same time, the writing was well done, and the mystery element was a good, solid. Some elements came to our main character too easily, but I was still drawn in.

Nice debut, but not enough suspense, guessed the killer early on, too straightforward, not enough twists. As I got this free from a Bookbub-promo-mail I feel bad about it, not paying for it, but this will not change my review.

Propulsive but very dark thriller featuring American FBI analyst who moves to Dublin for complicated reasons. The crimes are the worst of the worst, but thankfully Hill did not go into depth describing them. Really liked the main characters (minus Reilly's mentor - ew). Will read the second in the series.

Really poor. Definitely not on par with the Scarpetta books. Got every cliche going from blonde but clever bombshell to sceptical older detective with a friendlier sidekick and troubled lives. There are far too many murders to be remotely credible, and the connections between them v tenuous and no one seems to do any regular police work to find the killer. They all sit around for Reilly Steele (lol) to do her thing. The alleged behaviour of senior cops beggars belief also.
I just couldn't believe in it. Rubbish. Honestly you wouldn't watch it if it was on tv.
