3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 since I’m feeling generous. The book dragged at times at times and the heroine never really engaged my interest.

This book was a fabulous read! I didn't realize the author was actually highlighting a real queen and Druid from 6th or 7th century Scotland until I read the message from the author at the back of the book.

Loved this story!

A beautiful start to what promises to be an epic trilogy. Mystical and mythical. Beautiful character development, mesmerizing descriptions of 6th-century rural Scotland and the perfect touch of magic. Love. Narrator was stunning too - her performance and Scottish lilt added to the authenticity of this experience

I loved this one. I loved Langoureth and her family. An interesting portrayal of history (felt almost like fantasy at times) and was unputdownable. So beautifully written, the descriptions painted an incredible picture. It ended on a sad note, but absolutely cannot wait for the sequel.

I can’t get into this book. I’m struggling with what is happening. I can’t keep track of who is who. I might fare better with this in print.

Great read. The last act was a little weak, and I could have done without the romance, but this was engaging and well written, with a real sense of place.

A little too predictable for me.  A young girl who wants to be a warrior/wisdom. But due to family obligations and tradition has to give up those dreams. Then she falls in love to a lowly warrior however she is arranged to marry the future king. Yada, yada, yada

Wisdom Keepers bowed to no one.

The first half of this book dragged.
I was pretty disappointed with it and I found myself begrudgingly picking it up to read.

Then it took off.
I don't know if it was a slow build, or if something just became interesting to me, but whatever it was I could not put it down. I flew through the final half and started the second book immediately.

There was something almost nostalgic about this book.
It's almost reminiscent of fantasy stories from my childhood.

Enjoyed the reader. I think if I had been reading it I might have quit. A lot of details. I'm not a big fan of romance books, but not enough romance to make me dislike the book. Always interesting to hear about life in the past. The author gave a discussion about the book development in the end, very interesting.

The weird part of the story was details galore in the beginning, then suddenly the story skipped ahead 17 years! Whoa what happened?!

I'm hooked will read the next in the series
