This book is not for the People who like a morally grey man who likes an innocent girl. James (hook) is irredeemably a bad person, and if you can accept that, this book will be good. Though, if you expect him to having somehow misunderstood killing and being a mob boss, put the book down, for your own good.

This is a Dark Romance Fairytale Retelling of Peter Pan. Drug lords pushing pixie dust, and fighting over territory plus a revenge driven MMC. You just can't go wrong here. The MMC is Hook and the MFC is Wendy. I flew through this book. I'm usually a pretty slow reader but this I finished in a day. Peter Pan is my favorite story of all time so i wanted to give this retelling a chance and it did not disappoint. Is it like the original Peter Pan? No, not at all, it is quite spicy. Did the author find ways to interweave characters and things from the original story into her retelling flawlessly? Yes she absolutely did that. I would rate the spice 5 peppers! There is a lot of spice and it is very detailed. There is quite a bit of violence also just a heads up. Consider that your trigger warning. I can't wait to read the others in the series!

The first part was promising. Good girl with daddy issues runs in to a bad boy with a traumatic past. For once I thought we were going to get a female lead who is a good person at her core but who isn’t a complete idiot. For example,
she's rightfully suspicious when he randomly shows up at her workplace after they met only once without her giving him the address.
She seemed to have some common sense and self preservation at first until she goes on an actual date with him, after which it’s like she got a lobotomy and her whole personality got wiped out. The second half is just Stockholm syndrome galore. I didn’t buy their “love” at all, I felt like there was no emotional connection between the two main characters, at best they are just horny for each other. He treats her like shit the whole time and she just decides she’s okay with it because of her daddy issues I guess. I also didn’t care about the whole mystery/plot surrounding the drug cartel.
There was an annoying amount of  misogyny and women hating, not just from the male characters, but the narrative itself. Wendy is this virginal, innocent and pure creature who is secretly yearning to be fucked hard and that makes her special. Meanwhile all other women in this book are superficial, evil and vapid. They just jealous of her and they don’t act like people at all, but like caricatures of themselves.
It’s not the worst thing I have read, but it feels like wasted potential.
