No okay fuck it I had fun with this. It was a nice change of pace to read something lighthearted like this.
It's a fun, simple romcom that's cute, well-written (enough), surprisingly mature and witty without having to try too hard. I went into this thinking that it would be amusing in a laugh at way given the premise of it being a Reylo fanfiction that got publicised (which, come on that's ridiculous) but I ended up burning through this way quicker than I anticipated.
I already like romcom movies (I mean Punch Drunk Love and Night is Short, Walk on Girl are two of my all time favorites) so in hindsight of course I'd still have fun when making the jump from the camera to the pen. Maybe I didn't actually think I'd dislike it and was actually eager to read this, but had to hide it under the veil of irony. Who knows.
And the whole Reylo aspect didn't even take away from the whole experience, in fact I actually found the constant reminders of "By the way, this dude is based off Kylo Ren, down to his name" fucking hilarious. That's gold right there.
It's not without flaws but all-in-all it's quite good for what it is.

I loved TLH. It gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I have heard some people say it wasn’t for them because of a few writing errors and because the MC is portrayed as insecure. But that was what made me love the story. Because I am ambitious, but I am also an insecure person. I know what I want, but overthinking can often come in my way, and then I’ll always have my boyfriend and my friends to lean on, just like Olive.

This isn’t a major spoiler, but it mentions a thing about Olive, that we have in common.
Spoiler And… just like Olive, movies where horses dies? It is a big no for me. It is too emotional you know?

So Yeah. I am giving this a 5 star review. I am so happy for not letting the ‘negative’ reviews hinder me from reading the book. Totally, and utterly, in love with how the storyline progressed.

Fabulous, show-stopping, never-been-done-before (by that I mean done at least a million times but not in this way). I love a good man-pines-over-a-girl-who-has-no-idea-the-depth-of-his-feelings-for-her moment. Grumpy × sunshine. All the fun things.

Also, also, women in STEM. What a novel concept (not really, but its nice to see it in the romance genre, or ANY genre, but I digress).

I adored this story. I fell in love with Adam from the start, and enjoyed reading about him from Olive's perspective. She was a relatable female lead, as I also struggle with self worth. I was always rooting for Olive, even though she made mistakes. It was a light and fluffy story, but not a boring take on the fake dating trope.
