I only read the Strange Highways novella in this but I really enjoyed it ended really well with a positive message. It was compelling, a fascinating idea about being granted a second chance to change the course of your life - really good!

This is the first story I've read from Dean Koontz. I've heard that he can be a hit or miss but from just this short story alone I am definitely interested in reading more of his stories. Some of the concepts used in this are things I absolutely hate reading and yet I was fully invested and at the edge of my seat wondering what was happening. It was tightly written and atmospheric and I think he has a clever way of writing. If you can find a recording of James Spader narrating this I highly recommend listening. I thought he did such an amazing job.

Satanism, deals with the devil, time travel, dysfunctional alcoholic - really? I was confused in the beginning of the book, and by the end dissatisfied. I won't be reading any more Dean Koontz. If I want horror (which I rarely indulge in), I'll read Stephen King.

A great anthology book it would have been a five star review but two stories in the book let it down

Note: This was the audio version of the short story Strange Highways and not the book Strange Highways which is a collection of short stories, including the title story.

This story was weak for me. I knew where it was headed and the outcome much earlier than I think was intended. Also, it seemingly out of nowhere turned into a religious good vs. evil story. And really, I think that the revelation the girl brings up at the end of the story is something she should have brought up when Joey is trying to explain to her that just a bit ago he was a 45 year old man and now he is 20, but whatever.

I liked the setting but the plot and the magical stuff felt under done.

This is a collection of short stories, that range from horror, scifi, thriller, hopeful, and melancholy.

I found it to be one of the few Koontz books, that I just felt blah about. Besides the fist story, which the book gets its name from, none of the stories really grabbed my interest. I ended up having to push myself, to finish the book. Some of the stories seemed to be very predictable. Overall, the first story is worth the read, if you can get the book for free, but the rest of the book is just okay of a read.
