I loved this book!! It was a fantastic follow up and expansion to the world!! Honestly I may have enjoyed this book a bit more than the first one. The pacing was a little slow at the beginning, but was fantastic overall. I love all the characters and how we learned so much more about the background/side characters!

I felt every emotion while reading this book and I loved every minute of it. I was excited to turn the page and see what else I had in store.

Solid 3 stars! Fun to go back to this series and learn more about the characters.

Kind of hard to believe that the main guy didn’t realize that she was his acted mate…especially since he knew how that works and that she hadn’t been with anyone else but….ok lol.

Loved the epilogue!

This was a quick, enjoyable read. This was an MF instalove, shifter, miscommunication, unrequited love, fated mates romance. Instalove is not one of the tropes I gravitate towards, but I do enjoy fated mates romances which is why I enjoyed this one.

Marcus and Leila are two different types of shifters. Marcus is a bear shifter with a sordid familial history and Leila is a wolf shifter. Wolf shifters mate for life, however, bear shifters don’t necessarily do that. Marcus and Laila are fated to be together and the attraction between the two is strong, however, the differences in their shifters and how they feel the bond kept them away from each other. Once the tension between the two reached a peak and they finally came together it was explosive!

I love the protective alpha male in shifter romances and Marcus did not disappoint! I was all here for his grumpy protectiveness! Marcus also had demons he had to overcome and Leila was there for him in every way. I really loved the way she went about their relationship despite knowing they were fated to be together.

Overall, this was an interesting read and I’d love to read more from this author!

Decent read. I liked Leila and Marcus. I hoped for a different path for these two from the book blurb but alas I was left disappointed.

The push pull aspect became tires early on, even if Marcus has a valid reason for concern. Same for Leila for keeping the fact they were mates from Marcus. A bit frustrating really.

With everything that occurred in this story tbh I felt it dragged a lot. Especially around 70% and on. I was pretty bored by the separation between Marcus and Leila and then frustrated by the silly misunderstanding and jumping to conclusions. It kinda ruined the actual romance aspect because I don't think we ever truly saw the two get to know one another. It seemed based off attraction and the pull of the mate bond, really. And then to jump a whole year where we're just to assume they'd avoided one another all that time except for unavoidable run ins around town? Meh.

Cute epilogue. I liked Marcus siblings Natalie and Bodhi alot. Overall an okay read but a little too drawn out.

This was a good book. I will say, I didn’t necessarily like how 6 months and then another like 6 weeks passing was just briefly mentioned and seemed overlooked. I think it should have been acknowledged more that that much time was passing after Marcus and Leila’s encounters. But other than that this was a great story. My heart hurt for Leila and Marcus. And I also wanted to lock them in a room together to stop all the lack of and miscommunication. The suspense was killing me plus all of the Toby drama. The drama and suspense had me full of angst in the best way. I needed to keep reading to see what would happen. I can’t wait to read what comes next.

A chance encounter led me to beta read this book for the talented @reece.barden

I got sucked into her world building, storyline and characters. I can’t tell you how happy I was to discover a new author but also a new well written series based on one of my favourite romance genres - shifters.

Book 2 features the wolf Alpha’s daughter, Leila, and the new sherif in town - bear shifter, Marcus. I loved that, while Leila knew off the bat that Marcus was her mate - Marcus, as a bear shifter, was unaware due to their mating differences. It made the story feel fresh and engaging.

I went back to read Book 1 and am eagerly anticipating when book 3 will release on Amazon!

Since I signed up for @reece.barden ARC team for future releases, this was automatically sent to me but I happily read it previously (and book 1) on my own accord.
