The most impactful and beautifully devastating poetry book I have ever read. Physical privilege in my hands. Been wanting to read Mahmoud Darwish's work for so many years, and finally getting to do so was like being bathed in warm light. THE luminary of poetry and prose, nothing else has compared, ever. I want to read his entire mind now. So inspirational and important. Will be re-reading for the rest of my life

This poetry collection has well over 40 poems, so it’s a tad hard to review this as a whole — I absolutely adored a lot of the poems, Darwish has such a uniquely beautiful way to convey emotion and describe settings! It’s so fascinating.

There were a few poems that I  didn’t particularly like, or some whose meaning could have been lost in the translation, but in overall i’m so glad I read this, had such a nice time reading it in hyde park or in my backyard on sunny days.

I melt at your glances and become music.

because the stars are words on their way towards me, and so a moment of happiness arrives from outside

In madrid, If it were not for sin, the colour yellow, rustling, most and least, a life beginning, life to the last drop.

I have read a fair number of poetry books by Palestinian authors, but this is the first that I really felt that I lost a bit in the translation, I wish I spoke Arabic to get the full feeling of his poetry. Also to realize that he was martyred for his voice.
Also I realized that I am not as much of a fan of prose poetry as I am of traditional poetry.
Definitely  worth the read
